Our Beginnings
Peony & Plum is the inspired idea of owner, Susan Tom-Nellis. Susan brings a fresh approach to floral design—having grown up in colorful and casual Honolulu, HI, she fuses these island sentiments with her understanding of composition and form gained from her studies at UCLA’s prestigious Art Department. Add to the mix, Susan’s role of Creative Director for an influential Los Angeles advertising agency and you’ve got a talented woman who keeps calm under pressure.
Philosophy
Susan’s unique background leads to floral creations that are sophisticated yet whimsical, where traditional elements live happily alongside the unexpected. Peony & Plum’s floral arrangements are designed with more than just aesthetics in mind. When you choose our creations we believe you are “inviting” our designs to be part of your wedding. It’s an honor we don’t take lightly.
We believe floral design can add an unspoken message to your wedding. Beyond visual impact, Peony & Plum embraces the idea that floral design can set the tone of any nuptials, a bride’s bouquet can whisper an intimate sentiment to the groom, and centerpieces can exude coziness even at a grand celebration. We look forward to helping you develop the tone of your special day.

At age 33, Eddie Zaratsian of Tic-Tock Couture Floral Creations, is one of the youngest inductees in the American Institute of Floral Designers. A floral designer to Hollywood’s A-List, this Armenian-born uber-florist has been a Hollywood staple to the recording, film and television industries for over two decades. Sting, Tom Cruise, Salma Hayek, Angela Bassett, Meg Ryan, Tiffany, LeAnn Rimes, Flea, Vince Vaughn, David Arquette & Courteney Arquette Cox, David Schwimmer, Laura Dern and Kelly Ripa are among the bevy of Zaratsian’s celebrity clientele. His dramatic arrangements might include artichokes, pineapples, or green tomatoes, and he's likely to quiz callers about the personality of the recipient before he gets to work. When Trudie Styler, received one of his arrangements, sent at the request of Tom Cruise's "people," she got right on the horn. "Who are you?" Zaratsian remembers her demanding. She's now one of the intercontinental regulars of the store that began as Eddie's dad's gift and watch-repair shop (he still has a space in the back)
With Zaratsian, nothing is ordinary and everything is extraordinary. Located on La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles, Zaratsian and his team travel the world to find the most unique vessels and containers to showcase exquisite, hand selected blooms. When Lifestyle Guru Colin Cowie was in need of a couture floral designer for FOX TV’s newest show, “Live Like A Star,” Colin immediately turned to Zaratsian. When ambiance is paramount to success, the design team of Tic-Tock Couture Floral Creations is called upon to decorate film and television sets including, Haunted Mansion, Starsky & Hutch (The Movie), The Banger Sisters, The Wedding Planner, Little Nicky, Vanilla Sky, Swordfish, Soap Talk, Whose Wedding is it Anyway?, E!, Will & Grace and more.
Most Recently, Zaratsian and his design team created the florals for the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Governors Ball. A unique statement that spoke to the vision and visual imagery of the Emmy Awards, Zaratsian utilized hip, clean, technical modernism favored by the current ‘60’s retro movement by employing retro colors for the florals combined with modernistic, high-tech containers. Acid green dendrobium orchids, green midori antheriums, green, purple, orange and brick cymbidium orchids are displayed in brushed steel and clear acrylic geometrically-shaped containers.
